It's almost Mother's Day. Let's go shopping!

You're looking for something a little bit different. It has to be something special. Something vintage! No matter your budget, you can find the perfect gift only a few blocks away.

Remember how you used to make macaroni necklaces for Mom? Sprayed 'em gold? Now you can graduate to these vintage beaded necklaces found at Pageboy, the new kid on the 3600 block of Butler Street. They range in price from only $8 to $14. Such a deal! And they are so summery, you can practically hear the surf splash on the shore of your favorite vacation getaway!  The boutique, which has a mix of vintage finds, upcycle clothing and Etsy-like accessories, is also a hair salon. Get a new 'do before taking Mom out to brunch.

Flowers, of course, are always a great gift, but why not get the mom in your life something that will bloom forever? Wild Card has headbands (about $22) with fabric flowers, some with vintage buttons. Simple and chic. Like a petit chapeau. On breezy spring days, it will add a certain je ne sais quoi to an everyday outfit.

Maybe you're planning to make Mom breakfast in bed for Mother's Day, because the Mom in your house is the one who's always in the kitchen. Whether or not she loves to cook, oh, is she going to love the vintage aprons at T's Upholstery Studio. The poodle apron (above) is $25 but the other aprons -- a variety of colors and patterns, all starched and pristine -- are only $15. They're so retro and fun, they're not just for the kitchen.

It's not surprising that tomato red has been officially declared one of the colors for spring 2010. Red never goes out of style. This handcrocheted shoulder bag, found at Equita, will add some flavor to Mom's wardrobe. Mix it with tan khakis, a jade top, or dark blue jeans -- mmm, mmm, good! At $55, the price is pretty tasty too.

What are you getting for Mother's Day?
